Your Health is Determined by Your Thoughts
How you think about your health is very important in how healthy you actually are. Your thoughts about your body and yourself cause you to feel certain ways and those feelings influence how you act. These actions result in your health.
I want you to have good health and one of the ways to do that is to use your mind for your good health instead of against it. How can we do that? First, let’s look at thoughts.
Where do our thoughts come from?
Well, it seems like we just don’t know.
People who study the brain would show what part of the brain contains our memories. They might show where in the brain the neurons fire when we become conscious of a thought.
Some people say there is a collective consciousness and if the conditions are right poof, we become aware of that thought from that collective consciousness.
Others who believe in a higher being believe the thoughts come from having the same mind as that higher being.
It could be all or none, but we do know that we have thoughts.
What is a thought?
The definition of a thought is hard to explain because the definitions all use the word in defining itself. The definitions include a mental activity or firing of neurons that cause thinking.
I would like to describe a thought as an awareness of a visualization or inner dialogue in yourself.
How do we get the thoughts we have?
The thoughts we have seem to be defined often by the experiences we have and from hearing others talk about their experiences.
In any way, it is just so very interesting to think about it.
Why do I bring up Thoughts with Health?
Many times it is our thoughts about our circumstances and about how we interpret what the world thinks is healthy that create the health we currently have.
If we think we are in poor health because we don’t meet the world’s definition of good health, then our brain will look for evidence that proves that thought correct.
If the world says we are obese and that is bad for health, then our actions will continue to prove that we are in bad health.
These examples show ways that your health is determined by your thoughts.
What can you do?
I understand it would be hard to believe that you are healthy when you are not.
What you can do is find the actions and ways that you are healthy or have a healthy habit. Then you can tell your brain that you are healthy and use that as a jumping point for your brain to look for more evidence of health that then causes you to take actions that are more healthy.
How do You do that practically?
For example, do you drink 8 glasses of water a day? If yes, you can tell your brain that drinking water helps your body function properly and makes you healthier. You can say to yourself, “I drink the water that I need for my body to be healthy every day.” Saying it out loud many times over many days works best. Then watch as your brain reminds you to drink your water.
