What is Intermittent Fasting

What is Intermittent Fasting?

You Fast Every Day

Yes, you!

Everyone has times in which they are not eating.  These times are called fasting.

Typically in America, people fast after dinner or their late-night snack until breakfast in the morning.

That is the reason it is called breakfast.  That is when you break or stop your fast.

When people break their fast is often based on routine or how they were raised.

Some people choose when they have breakfast based on when they get up in the morning, or when they leave for work, others based on when breakfast is served at school or the restaurant they eat at opens, and some based on when they are actually hungry.

Often these patterns were based on when you were given breakfast as a kid.

What is Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent fasting (IF) is a diet strategy that involves a set time of eating (feasting) and a set time of not eating (fasting.)  Fasting is not eating or consuming any calories.

It might surprise you to know that intermittent fasting is not a new thing.  Unlike fad diets and trends, IF has been around for millennia!

Think about how our ancestors ate. Long ago, food wasn’t as abundant as it is now.

To eat, people had to hunt and forage.  If the hunt was unsuccessful or no food was found while foraging, they would go without eating.

When food was scarce, they would be hungry and when food was available, they would eat.

The main difference is that then, fasting wasn’t necessarily a choice.

How is Intermittent Fasting Different Now?

Intermittent fasting is different because you are intentionally choosing a time to fast and a time to feast.  A reason to be intentional about this choice is to get the benefits of longer fasting periods giving your digestive system longer resting periods.

There are some functions in the body that don’t happen very easily or much at all unless your body has been in a fasted state for over 12 hours.

How Does This Information Benefit You?

You get to choose to use this information for your own health.

Decide to be intentional about when you feast and fast.  I am not saying to change anything about what you eat, just when you eat.

Fasting is so very simple because you already do it.  I’m just suggesting you consider stopping your feasting period earlier in the evening and/or extending your fasting period to a little later in the morning.

I created the Easy Guide to Intermittent Fasting to help you create a fasting schedule that works for you and your body.

Why Get the Free Easy Guide to Intermittent Fasting?

There are other people that just give you a typical fasting schedule and say to follow it.

I know you are a unique person with different needs from everyone else.  That means that the fasting schedule that works for me probably will not work for you.

The Easy Guide to Intermittent Fasting helps you create your own individual plan for fasting.

Some people can get benefits from fasting after 12 hours.  That means a person can stop eating at 8 pm and start eating again at 8 am and have most or all the benefits of fasting.

Consider yourself and what that means for you.  Does that mean that maybe you allow your digestive system to rest for 2 hours longer a day on most weekdays?

Maybe it just means you stop drinking sugary beverages in the evenings or have no snacks after dinner.

What would it mean for you to have greater health?

This simple way of easing into fasting may not give you the results of losing 10 pounds in 10 days.

It will allow you to make fasting a part of your lifestyle and something you will continue to do and get the benefits from for the rest of your life.

I eased into fasting.

I stopped eating at 8 pm instead of 9:30 pm for 2 weeks.

For the next two weeks, I continued to start fasting at 8 pm and added in not breaking my fast until 9 am instead of 8 am for the next 2 weeks.

In those 4 weeks, I lost 5 pounds.  That was from adding only 2 and 1/2 hours of fasting time to my days.

I don’t want you to do anything extreme, I want you to get the benefits of fasting in a way that fits your life and allows you to love fasting.

After you get some benefits from fasting maybe then you will want to try a longer fast like I did but my goal is to help you get to your best health in a way that you can enjoy.

If you would like to try fasting then get the Easy Guide to Intermittent Fasting and choose to gain the benefits to your health that fasting provides.
