Change Your Diet for Weight Loss

What We are Told to Do to Lose Weight

One of the most important things you can do when you are trying to lose weight is to pay attention to what you are eating. This does not take any time from your schedule and you will feel much healthier when you eat the right foods in the right proportions.

Yes, we heard that before.  Yet, we do not follow this advice.  Why are we not paying attention to what we are eating?  Are you in the “I’ve given up and am eating whatever” camp or the “I follow a strict diet that I can’t sustain and binge” camp, or some version of that.

More Advice on How to Lose Weight

One of the best ways to change your diet is to change to an organic one. It is good to increase the fiber in your diet, which will clean out your colon of all negative weight loss inhibitors. This means that instead of eating refined or processed foods, you should eat whole grain foods like brown rice and whole-wheat bread. This has more fiber and less bad fats such as trans fat and cholesterol.

You should also increase your input of protein, minerals, and vitamins. To do this it is good to eat more fruits and vegetables and substitute fish and chicken for red meat. These meats have fewer calories and fat and still provide more protein.

This is all good advice.  Why aren’t we following it? Are fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, and chicken without flavor?  No, there are many flavorful ways to prepare and enjoy these foods.

Here’s the Kicker, Processed Foods

One of the most important parts of changing your diet is to completely eliminate junk food. This will include candy, chips, popcorn, ice cream, milkshakes, and soda. You can substitute fruits and vegetable snacks instead. Instead of sodas you can drink water or dilute some juice with water for flavor. You will find this makes a huge difference in your sugar and fat intake.

But do we want to stop eating these foods? One of the main problems is that we are addicted to these processed foods.  We crave these foods when we are sad, afraid, successful, and to celebrate.

What Do You Need to Do to Lose Weight?

There is no easy answer.  Why? Because we are different.  I can tell you what I did to lose 45 pounds.  You could follow every detail and not lose 45 pounds or 20 pounds or 10 pounds.  You are a bio-individual.  You are different even from your siblings.
