My Baby Nursing Every Hour

Help! My Baby is Nursing Every Hour

Why Is My Baby Nursing Every Hour?

That was the beginning.  My son was nursing every hour during the day.  He would sleep around 2-3 hours at night before nursing again.    At 6 months though he was eating baby food, my baby was fussy all the time.  He seemed smaller than my girls at that age but I thought he was just different from being a boy.

6 Month Appointment

At his 6 month appointment, his weight had taken a dive on percent from the 50% range to 38% range and he wasn’t meeting some milestones.  The doctor recommended that we have an evaluation done by the state to see if he qualified for some therapy.  Part of the evaluation included a nutritionist that suggested he might have a dairy or soy allergy.  He met all other milestones and we didn’t qualify for any other services.

What Did I Do

I started to limit dairy and soy in my and my son’s diet.  That seemed to have some improvement but he was still nursing every couple of hours. We were not able to go much further on finding out about my son’s illness because my husband chose to change his residency program.  Within 3 months of finding out my son may have allergies, we moved from Illinois to Maryland. In Maryland, we had to start over again with a new pediatrician.  My son was still nursing every hour at that point. I continue with the next post on diagnosis with intolerances.
